Playtime
We have a puzzle or some sensory toys out at the beginning of Storytime. After we are done playing, the children grab their name tags and put them in the basket.

All About Today
Friday's weather was cold and windy. The children declared that the season was still fall, because there is no snow on the ground. I hope we do get snow soon, because otherwise it will be really hard to convince them that winter can happen without snow on the ground.
Learning Time:
This session is devoted to learning about the letters of the alphabet. The children use flashcards to match up the letters that I show them on the bean bag. I usually use 6 letters each session for matching so it doesn't take too long.
Read & Listen:
Today we read Me Want Pet by Tami Sauer with pictures by Bob Shea. I don't think the kids got the idea of a cave boy, but the pets featured were a hit. I mean, who wouldn't want a woolly mammoth, saber toothed tiger, or a dodo bird as a pet?
Special Activity:
In honor of the library decorating for Christmas, I had the children draw pictures to Santa of things that they wanted for Christmas.
Ending Song:
We sang "Itsy Bitsy Spider" as our Ending Song today. They really like doing the hand motions, and usually we do a variety of spiders. One favorite of the kids is the Rockin' Rollin' Spider. We also do the teeny tiny spider (with our teeny tiny voices) and the great BIG spider (with our great BIG voices). The variety keeps the kids engaged because we don't do all of the spiders each week.
Looks like another great Storytime!!! Lots of singing and fun. Cassie does such a super job.
